TWEED Heads South students are green with success as school garden club members presented an informative speech about the success of the garden club program at Club Banora last week.
Members of the club, known as the “Garden Gnomes” can be seen tending and maintaining the many gardens at the Tweed Heads South Public School, through the week.
The students were invited to speak to the Club Banora Garden club members and talk about their “Hippy Scarecrow”, a visit from Gardening Australia personality Costa Georgiadis, and the excitement in gaining first place in the recent School Garden Competition.
Students were able gain valuable information and advice from the many “green thumbs” at the meeting.
Maria and Greg from the Banora Garden Club presented the students with some garden goodies and congratulated them on their dedication and commitment to the interest of gardening and the beautification of the school.
The Garden Gnomes meet regularly, fundraise and teach new members how to garden.
They also have grand plans for the school grounds in 2014, subject to Principal Mr Reason’s approval of course.
