THE brand new Covered Outdoor Learning Area (Cola) at Pottsville Beach Public School got a workout on Friday night for community carols.
The P&C organised a range of food prior to the carols beginning at 6.30pm, according to P&C president Craig Blackburn.
“It was a wonderful gathering which celebrated the first gathering at Pottsville’s new icon of hope,” Craig said.
“Students had worked with staff to prepare special items including Colin Buchanan’s Aussie Jingle Bells, Irish dancing school choirs, dance groups and traditional carol singing.”
Deputy principal Steve Dean was MC for the night and choir leader Mrs Thompson led many groups of singers. Other staff members included Mrs Shaw who led two dance troupes, Mrs Spence with the student singing in Japanese and Miss Crompvoets who prepared Irish dancers on two levels.
“Local company, Shackell Transport provided the stage on wheels as we cannot complete our wooden platform until early next year,” he said.
“We were delighted with the brightness and sweetness of children’s contribution for this special event.”
