FUNKY, bluesy, gritty, a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll and all Brendan Gallagher.
The Karma County front man and two-time Aria award winner Gallagher has released a brand new album – Wine Island and he is out to tour.
Gallagher loves talking about the many people he’s mentored, collaborated with, promoted or produced over the course of his 30 years in the music business.
“When I get excited about something, I want other people to get excited too,” he said.
His modesty is genuine, as is his enthusiasm for the many great and varied musicians with whom he has worked, from the late great Jimmy Little (Messenger) to Jesse Younan and Kingscliff’s own Jeremy Oxley (Sunnyboys).
The author of the internationally bestselling The Open Tuning Chord Book for Guitar, Brendan has also recorded with David Bowie, and you’ve heard his songs on the soundtrack of the popular television series Sea Change as well as films like Somersault, Clubland and The Boys are Back.
But with his third solo album – Wine Island – his own work is back in focus. Sweet, resonant and rocking, full of the trademark poetry and wit that’s made him one of Australia’s best-loved singer-songwriters.
Brendan returns to Soundlounge with a cracking band featuring drum legend Rob Souter (Dynamic Hepnotics, Slim Dusty), jazz bass maestro Jonathan Zwartz and young WA guitarist Doug Nairn.
