KINGSCLIFF District Football Club wrapped up a successful year on the field with their annual presentation on Saturday at Reg Dalton Oval, Kingscliff.
According to president Gillian Austin it was the fitting end to a “fantastic” season.
“Kingscliff District Football Club had a fantastic season with seven of our junior teams in finals,” Gillian said.
“Both under-12 teams, under-14JPL, under-15JPL, both under-15 girls teams along with the Colts all reached the final series.
“Congratulations to all our small sided teams from under-6s to under-11s … watching these players improve each week is exciting as we look forward to seeing you all again next year enjoying your football.
“The under-13 girls should be an example to all, they never won a game but came off the field each week as if they had won a final, the girls never gave up trying till the final whistle was blown. Very proud of you girls.
“Colts were grand final winners on a very hot day going into extra time followed by penalty shoot out, winning 7/6.
“Thanks to everyone who turned out to support the Colts at Carrara stadium … the supporters really boosted the boys to a great win. Great to see them hold up two trophies taking out the minor premiership and grand final.”
She said junior presentation was again a huge success on Saturday with nearly 400 trophies given out to the players along with specialist awards for teams and our perpetual trophies.
The big winners this year were Tim Harry who took out the “referees award”, Jessica Austin who won the “junior club person of the year” for the second year in a row and Alex Pitt winning “junior coach/manager of the year”.
“These are always hard to pick as we have so many amazing hard working volunteers in our club who commit week in week out … but there can only be one winner – congratulation to Tim, Jessica and Alex who are deserving winners in 2013,” Gillian said.
“Finally, our club can not achieve any of this without our committed volunteers of coaches, managers, parents support and the wonderful committee who make all this happen – thank you to everyone.
“A very special thank you to Edna, Marissa and Jo who have ensured our canteen has run smoothly this year and cooked us up some amazing food throughout the season. We are now all looking forward to our six-aside season – see you all there for kick off on the 8 October.”
