For children aged three and up, and their adults, the Glasshouse has a multitude of scary delights this March, featuring The Gruffalo, a musical adaptation of the award-winning children’s book.
Culminating in performances of the show at the Glasshouse on March 15, there is plenty going on if the kids, from aged three, just can’t wait until then.
On March 5 at 10am the Gruffalo himself will be visiting Angus and Robertson in Port Central.
There will be art activities including colouring-in and Gruffalo mask making as well as a reading of the book, all accompanied by a personal appearance from the Gruffalo.
You can also visit the website, www.glasshouse.org.au, for links to many Gruffalo activities including colouring-in, mask making, finger puppets, a word search, spot the difference and a present hunt.
With school performances already sold out, tickets for the general public are being snapped up fast for the performance of The Gruffalo on March 15 at 5.30pm.
The Gruffalo is part of the Education @ The Glasshoue 2011 program.
Teachers’ resources can be downloaded from the website, www.glasshouse.org.au.
Other exciting events in the education program this term include the fascinating exhibition of The Governor: Lachlan Macquarie, 1810-1821; the inter-active exhibition of historical and contemporary video games in The Garden of Forking Paths; and Operation Art, an exhibition produced by students with the aim of reducing the anxiety of children during hospitalisation.
