THE Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music will spring into action this weekend at picturesque Tyalgum west of Murwillumbah.
This year’s event features some special performances including a first performance of “The Green Cauldron” which has been especially commissioned for the event.
The Green Cauldron will be performed by Brew Guitar Duo and The BG Sound Project – three of Australia’s biggest names in the one concert, along with William Barton on didgeridoo and Teije Hylkema on cello.
The BG Sound Project is a journey with didgeridoo and guitar featuring Anthony Garcia on guitar and William Barton on didgeridoo.
Imagine the pulsating rhythms, soaring melodies and lush harmonies of the guitar and didgeridoo as the ethereal sounds of these timeless instruments weave and dance to create an original Australian soundscape that holds no boundaries.
Two of Australia’s leading improvisers trance through the ancient and contemporary in a wild mix of sounds and textures, reflecting the profound creative and emotional connection between these two artists.
The Brew Guitar Duo are Bradley Kunda – guitar and Matthew Withers – guitar.
The festival will feature the world premier of “The Green Cauldron” by Bradley Kunda (with Teije Hylkema cello, Will Barton didgeridoo, Anthony Garcia guitar).
Commissioned by the 2013 Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music, The Green Cauldron is a vivid evocation of the Tweed Valley’s luscious landscape. A potent brew of didgeridoo, cello and nylon and steel string guitars, creates a richly-coloured atmosphere of intrigue, stunning beauty, and at times, wild abandon.
