Opera in the valley at Tyalgum Hall

Tyalgum Hall’s legendary acoustics will get a good work-out when opera stars, Lachlan Baker and Liza Beamish take to the stage for An Evening to Remember on Friday, February 24.
With an extensive repertoire ranging from classical opera through to modern ‘popera’ and evergreen ballads, Lachlan and Liza will perform some of the world’s most famous musical pieces.
The evening’s program will also feature two of Australia’s brightest young ballroom dancing stars – Rhett Salmon and Emma Lee – staging an elegant demonstration of their world-class style.
An Evening to Remember is the latest in a series of top quality shows presented at the 104-year-old Tyalgum Hall by local production company, Hearts Aflame Productions.
In March last year, Hearts Aflame Productions brought four of Australia’s best Latin and ballroom dancers to the historic Tweed Valley village for the Tyalgum Dance Spectacular and in October they presented the world premiere of The Lives of Me: Untold Peter Allen Stories, featuring Sydney cabaret star, Robert Bertram.
Both performances attracted a sell-out crowd.
“The Tyalgum Hall is a fantastic resource for a village like ours,” said Hearts Aflame marketing manager, Solar Chapel.
“The building materials and design combine to deliver an acoustic quality that has been compared to some of the world’s leading concert venues.
“Every year, it hosts the Tyalgum Festival of Classical Music and Hearts Aflame wants to build on that by staging top quality concerts and performances throughout the year.
“The feedback from our two shows last year is that these semi-regular events bring a lot of people to Tyalgum who have never been here before.
“Many of them have since returned to stay for a few days and explore further afield, so the Tyalgum Hall performances are really helping to generate awareness of and attract tourists to the whole region.”
Dinner and show packages for An Evening to Remember on February 24 are priced from $75 per person, including a two-course dinner at Flutterbies Cottage Café. Dinner will be served at 6pm (NSW time), followed by the show at 8pm (NSW time).
