Luhrmann’s mum for dinner

BAZ Luhrmann’s mother will be attending a dinner-dance later this year on behalf of the Hastings Mental Health Support Group.
Luhrmann, the acclaimed Australian film director of cinematic hits such as Moulin Rouge and The Great Gatsby, first came to prominence after releasing Strictly Ballroom in 1992.
The group leader of Hastings Mental Health Support Group, Sheila Openshaw, is excited that the renowned director’s mother, Barbara Martin, has agreed to attend the dinner on October 25.
Mrs Openshaw is chairing a committee that is organising this function, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie, to aid Australian Rotary Health’s research into mental illness.
A black tie dinner on October 5, organised by Lorraine Chambers, will also aid mental health issues while in the same month, Australian Rotary Health will hold its Hat Day. The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie will recognise this day with a function on Wednesday, October 9.
