Named after playing a gig in an Irish pub, seven-piece band Waiting for Guiness started out like most good bands as a collaboration between friends who’d played together in various groups over the years.
Busking around Circular Quay and The Rocks, they honed their performance style into a mix of gypsy-punk, klezmer, latin and mariachi with guitarron (six-stringed Mexican bass), electric slide guitar, banjo, trumpet, accordion, percussion, saxophone, drums and vocals.
You’ll love their idiosyncratic blend of tortured jazz, gypsy blues, gallows humour and Balkans boogie.
See them this Friday night, 8pm at Flynns Beach Surf Club, Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie.
