Holiday fun and more

The Glasshouse will be hosting a variety of creative workshops these April School Holidays — there are even some spooky ghost tours. Children aged between six and 13 years will be able to enjoy the world of art and drama under the guidance of enthusiastic and experienced tutors. “These workshops are an opportunity for young people to make new friends, build confidence and discover their creative side in a terrific purpose built and inspiring venue which parents don’t need to worry about cleaning up at the end of the day,” said Skye Frost, Public Programs and Audience Development Officer for the Glasshouse.
Holiday Fun @ the Glasshouse will allow children to explore their artistic side with workshops hosted by Jane Whitfield and Lucy Pascale.
Jane will guide children in activities including making Inspiring Words of Art where children will use mixed media, collage and paints to make a colourful wall-hanging of friendship, Painting with Sand in which children will explore the fascinating texture of sand and acrylic paints and Glass Painting, where children will learn to use luminous glass paints.  In the Fun with Fossils workshop with Lucy, children will discover the interesting world of fossils and create their own fossil to take home. In the ever-popular Tie-dyed T-Shirts workshop, children will explore the process of tie-dying and take home some funky t-shirts.
Children with a dramatic flare will enjoy heritage inspired drama workshops such as Play a Part in an Amazing Story or Country Lasses, Larrikans and Bushrangers with CJ Grootenboger. Children will step back in time and re-discover Australian history by throwing themselves, both physically and vocally, into the dramatic creations of the workshops. Bruce Thompson will host a Spooky ghost walking tour for children aged five — nine years and their parents, with a daring side. In these evening tours by flickering candlelight, children will hear some great Port Macquarie ghost stories. Workshops cost just $25 for a two-hour workshop or $14.50 for the Spooky Ghost Tour (children must be accompanied by an adult).
