A taste of royalty will be in the air at a glamorous fundraising event to be held in Port Macquarie.
The Royal Ball will be held at Cassegrain Winery on Saturday, March 19.
The evening is designed to celebrate the privileges of living in such a picturesque part of Australia, whilst raising funds to help women and children in Port Macquarie and Africa.
Proceeds from the night will go to Mid Coast Care, Watoto and Compassion.
A highlight of the evening will be an auction of six items donated by local businesses. The major item will be a gold 1/2 carat diamond necklace valued at $3,600 which has been donated by The Gold & Coin Shop. It is on display in the front window of the shop in the Colonial Arcade for anyone who would like to view it before the night.
A tombola will also be running at the Ball with hundreds of prizes donated by local businesses.
The Ball committee would like to thank all those businesses for their generosity.
Mid Coast Care is a local organisation which supports agencies such as The Women’s and Children’s Refuge and Access Community Education Services, which is a disabilities group in Port Macquarie.
Compassion operate child sponsorship programs in the poorest nations of the world. Watoto operate in Uganda, helping women and children in many ways in that war torn country.
The funds raised by the Ball will be used for their facial reconstruction program. This provides the surgery needed by women who have had their faces mutilated by militants fighting in Uganda.
This surgery costs an average of $3000, so if the auction of the necklace can raise its value that will pay for one woman to have her face reconstructed.
