One of television’s most recognisable faces and leading man in the popular series Stingers, Peter Phelps, will be entertaining audiences at the Glasshouse this May in David Williamson’s superb play Let the Sunshine.
Phelps has been enter-taining Australian audiences for over two decades and starred in hit TV shows including All Saints, Underbelly, Rescue Special Ops and most recently Home and Away, and is currently touring across Australia as a wealthy property developer in Let the Sunshine.
David Williamson is one of Australia’s most acclaimed and successful playwrights, with a career spanning over 40 years and 43 plays. His comedic and satirical look at family conflict, social and political differences, as well as personal annoyances in Let the Sunshine, will have our coastal seachange community laughing (and sometimes squirming) in recognition of characters and a story that might be at times all too familiar.
Part Romeo & Juliet, part Meet the Parents, Let the Sunshine follows the story of Toby attempting to escape a scandal in Sydney, arrives at a small coastal town with his wife Ros to discover that the quaint fishing village of youthful memory is now filled with the sort of wealthy Sydney-siders he hoped to leave behind. A short acquaintance with the right-wing millionaire property developers Ron and Natasha becomes a long-term problem when his slacker son and their highly strung daughter hit it off.
The play is now touring the country and has been receiving rave reviews for its cast and direction, so don’t miss this coastal tale starring one of Australia’s best loved actors and written by one of Australia’s greatest playwrights.
To be held at the Glasshouse on Friday, May 25 at 8pm and Saturday, May 26 at 8pm. Ticket prices are $39.90 adult, $36.90 concession and groups 6+, $30.90 under 21/student. For more information or booking contact 6581 8888.
