2010 was a busy year for the Round Mountain Girls.
Appearances at Bluesfest, Woodford, Caloundra, Neerum Creek and Tamworth festivals, as well as lots of gigs around Byron Bay and surrounding areas saw them polishing the material for their second album, “One Step Closer”.
Now with the new album in hand and fresh from their third appearance at Tamworth, the boys (they’re not really girls) are coming down from the mountain to spread the RMG love far and wide.
Describing the RMG sound is difficult.
The line-up of banjo, fiddle and mandolin, as well as acoustic guitars, bass and drums, screams blue grass but the band can get pretty funky and sometimes it just plain rocks.
Perhaps the most apt description is ‘Funky Bluegrass Roots’.
Most of all though, this band is FUN.
Every RMG gig inevitably becomes a seething mass of smiling, sweaty people having fun.
The Round Mountain Girls are playing at Finnians Irish Tavern on Friday, March 11. Come and have some fun.
