Fox Control lovingly loops live guitar with electronic samples and breakbeats to generate an eccentric and thoroughly entertaining mish-Âmash of Latin/blues and roots/electronica.
A genre monkey would call it: Blue-ÂLatin Electro-ÂRoots, if you will.
He needs to be seen to be believed.
Previous to Fox Control, Huw’s history is filled with rock and roll ethos. In the past, he has toured Australia and played on records with platinum selling artist Grant Walmsley (Screaming Jets, Agents of Peace), played in a boogie band behind Canned Heat’s James T.
He teaches private music tuition alongside the world’s loudest drummer Col Hatchman (Guiness World Records, Nat Col & The Kings) and has worked as an accidental guitar tech for the Angel’s Brewster brothers side of stage at one Australia’s most prestigious venues, the Enmore Theatre.
Huw also topped the download charts at www.mp3.com.au for blues and roots, psychedelic and peaked at number four overall in 2004 with a bluesy acoustic slide-track called ‘mojo’.
All of this was under the alias of Baby Legs Jones. Fox Control is the link between live instrumentation and electronic music.
Huw Jones’ (aka Fox Control) live producing with multiple instruments, sampling and looping is as unique as his live setup.
Live you will see Spanish guitar, plodding bass and MPC for synths, voices, sampled breaks and constructed grooves.
If this sounds like 10 people on a stage, then you are mistaken. See Fox Control for yourself at The Port Macquarie Hotel at 7pm on November 2.
