The 2012 Saltwater Freshwater Festival is ready to rock the riverfront at Queen Elizabeth Park, Taree, today.
Last year the much anticipated festival was held in Port Macquarie.
With three performance areas – amazing music on the main stage, contemporary Aboriginal dance on the Dancestry ground and the Unearthed stage for local performers – there will be something to please all ages.
The day kicks off at 11.00am, with acts such as Microwave Jenny, The Black Turtles and The Stiff Gins on the Main Stage as well as workshops being conducted throughout the Festival site offering people the chance to experience cultural practices such as weaving, didge, design and dance.
GenerationOne returns as the Festival’s principal sponsor and will again host the GenerationOne Yarn Tent featuring lively forums focused on Aboriginal employment strategies for the Mid-North Coast as well as a panel discussion themed “Can we change in one generation”.
A highlight of the program will be the closing performance by Casey Donovan featuring her Big Beautiful & Sexy show.
The financial backing for the Taree Festival from both the public and private sectors has been excellent, and it is because of this support that the Festival is able to be a gold-coin entry event.
The Festival is an alcohol-, glass- and pet-free event.
