Over 160 original artworks by members of the Association are on display in the Hastings Fine Art Gallery, which recently opened its doors to the public.
“It’s been a long time in the making,” said Brian Barker, President of the Association.
“This Gallery is a major undertaking for a volunteer organisation like ours. For years we have been searching and lobbying for a permanent home, but nothing has eventuated so, when this building became available at a rent we can afford, we decided to take the initiative. It’s a short-term arrangement, but we are hopeful it will become long-term,” he said.
For the past three weeks, members have worked tirelessly at the shop, getting the gallery ready for business. The display covers a wide range of paintings, drawings, mosaics and sculptures, and visitors have been most complimentary about the quality and variety of work on display.
The Hastings Fine Art Gallery is located at 1A Murray Street, Port Macquarie.
Gallery hours are 10am to 4pm Thursday to Sunday, plus Public Holidays.
