There are two things AngelLa would like you to know: “Firstly, at my heart I am a storyteller; and secondly, music isn’t just music. Music can change the world.”
Fitting, since that’s what she hopes to do with her songs.
There’s a message at the core of what she sings and writes: life, love and placing value on people and, with her debut release, she is tackling these issues common to us all.
“This is the first time I’ve had a go at setting the atmosphere, at saying what’s so, without costumes and sets and scripted lines,” says the singer/songwriter whose introduction to the entertainment business was as a singer/dancer in theatrical productions in her native New York and with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
A graduate of New Yorks High School of Music & The Arts, where she studied voice and supplemented her tuition with dance and drama, AngelLa has a dual philosophy when it comes to songwriting.
Her songs are a mix of several genres but AngelLa’s philosophy is “infotainment”. “Music should most definitely entertain. I hope people will find my songs entertaining.”
But AngelLa also hopes her songs will bring people hope. “No-one should ever die from a lack of encouragement. Every one of us matters, just because we’re here. When it comes to worth, the fact that we’re here should be more than enough. We each have something of value to contribute to the world.”
AngelLa’s EP release is a community charity event: bringing awareness and raising funds for local and global issues.
The hour-long show will feature singing and dancing and AngelLA’s set list includes some of her original songs as well as popular covers: all of which promise to make for a fun evening.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Lifeline MidCoast, which is part of the Hastings Suicide Prevention Network and to the A21 Campaign, preventing human trafficking.
Lee-Ann Foord from Lifeline MidCoast will be in attendance and will also present during the event.
AngelLA’s EP Launch for Youth, Life and Dignity will be held on Friday, July 1 at the Pier One room, Port Macquarie Panthers.
Doors open at 7.30pm. Show starts at 8pm.
