A good letter A Dray, on migration. I agree with you entirely. Regarding your comments about Dapper Don Dunstan and Gough the Great, well, Labor is always strong on Social issues and hence legislation.
And here, we have to remember the old saying “it seemed like a good idea at the time”. Yes, good theory, good intentions. In the end though, it can backfire.
Take for instance, the farcical situation that occurred in cricket when Andy Symonds was supposedly called a monkey by an Indian cricketer. I’m still trying to work out why that was described as a “racist” comment.
If we have got to the stage where we must first consider ethnic background before opening our mouths, then that in itself is racial discrimination and the whole thing becomes completely silly.
