WHEN Alana Gigliuto was born on 12 December 2000, her excited mother Bev realised her daughter would celebrate a very special birthday one day.

Twelve years on and the pair, along with their family and friends, will celebrate Alana’s 12th birthday tomorrow.

What is so significant about the day? It’s the 12/12/12.

“When she was born it dawned on me pretty quickly,” Bev told Star.

“We’ve been waiting for quite a few years now.”

The Caroline Springs resident said she explained the significance of the date to her daughter when she was only five or six and before they knew it the day was almost upon them.

“It seemed like forever back then, but it’s like I blinked and it’s here.”

Described as a “little pocket rocket”, Alana said she was “very excited” for the day to finally arrive and would be spending it with family and friends.

“There’s not that many people who have that many twelves in their birthday.”

The Taylors Lakes Primary School student said most of her friends thought it was “pretty cool” and that she would be spending the day watching movies and eating cake. And like most tweens, she’s keen on receiving money and clothes for her birthday.

An avid reader and dancer Alana will be heading off to secondary school next year and said that while she may be nervous, she was looking forward to a new chapter in her life.
