The recidivist offender from Melton West had his vehicle impounded and will face a number of charges after overtaking the police member who was aware the male was a disqualified driver.
The offender was observed driving in excess of 150km per hour and overtaking a number of other vehicles in the emergency lane of the Western Freeway on 10 December.
The man’s mother, who is the registered owner of the vehicle, was in the car with him and will be charged with allowing a disqualified driver to use her vehicle.

It was also ascertained the male was unlicensed. He will be charged on summons to attend Bacchus Marsh Magistrates Court at a later date.
In another incident, a 33-year-old female from Melton South will be charged with leaving the scene of a collision after she knocked down a light pole at the intersection of Lancaster Way and Gloucester Way, Melton West, last Tuesday.
The female damaged the front right tyre of the vehicle when she hit the kerb and drove for about one kilometre along West Melton Drive on the flat tyre before abandoning the unregistered vehicle and taking off on foot.
