MELTON residents are being encouraged to celebrate what’s great about the nation at Australia Day celebrations at The Willows Historical Park.
The annual event runs from 9.30am until noon and includes a barbecue breakfast, citizenship ceremony, the presentation of the Community Achievement Awards and activities for the whole family.
Melton City Council mayor Kathy Majdlik invited all residents to come along and enjoy the festivities on the special day.
“There will be a flag-raising ceremony, activities for children, a sausage sizzle, music and fun, all set in the beautiful surrounds of Willows Historical Park.”
“Australia Day will see around 180 Melton residents from Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Korea, Zimbabwe, Malta and many more countries becoming citizens, which makes it one of the biggest citizenship ceremonies in Victoria.”
Other activities will include henna body art, Bunnings Melton children’s workshop, an Australian invention display as well as Willows Homestead and museum tours.
