MADDISON Parker is set to make May a month to remember.
The Caroline Springs resident has big plans for next month, and hopes her latest plight will continue to raise awareness of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
According to her proud mum, Kathy Parker, not even a serious car accident earlier this year could stop the brave 10-year-old from celebrating EDS awareness month in style.
Kathy told Star that despite recent setbacks Maddison was determined to “really make some noise this year” and already has “1000 ideas for May”.
The young warrior will set up information tables at local shopping centres where she will sell her parker pig money boxes and wrist bands and hand out information on the debilitating genetic disease.
Melton City Council has come on board and will fly the Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome awareness month flag at both the Melton and Caroline Springs civic centres during May.
Mayor Kathy Majdlik said the council would try to assist Maddison in her battle to raise awareness of her condition in any capacity it could.
“Maddison is a very determined young lady who has set out to increase awareness of the condition known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome or EDS,” Cr Majdlik said.
“Although Maddison suffers from the rare and incurable disease, it has not stopped her from working tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for much-needed research.”
