MELTON South residents will now have the opportunity to create a vibrant and connected community, thanks to a project supported by Djerriwarrh Health Services.
Djerriwarrh Health Services chief executive Bruce Marshall said Linking Melton South was an innovative new community development that aimed at promoting a community capable of responding to local aspirations and needs.
Mr Marshall said during the project, physical assets, services, organisations, businesses and individual skills and passions would all be identified through a variety of community engagement methods.
“The possibilities are endless when you focus on all the strengths an area does have,” he said.
Community workshops are being held, a photo competition created and an outdoor lounge room will be set up to connect residents and groups and enable them to gather information on community assets in Melton South.
Mr Marshall said the second part of the project would involve working with community members to make use of those assets for local projects and events.
A series of workshops will be held this month, and Melton South residents, groups and businesses are invited to attend. Workshops will be held on Tuesday 16 April from 9am to noon at DJ Cunningham Centre and Tuesday 23 April from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Melton South Community Centre.
