Mystery surrounds Senior’s assault

MELTON police are appealing for public assistance after a man aged in his sixties was seriously assaulted last month.
Police told Star the victim was crossing the cobblestone bridge on Reserve Rd, Melton, around 10pm on 10 March, when he was attacked, and consequently fell into the nearby creek.
He was discovered by a passer-by about 7.15am the following day and conveyed to hospital.
The victim caught only a brief glance of his attacker who was not known to him. Police are appealing for any information in relation to this incident.
Meanwhile, a Caroline Springs resident was assaulted while washing his car in the driveway of his Vincent Way home.
The victim was approached by four unknown males around 6.30pm on Saturday 30 March, and was severely beaten. The victim’s injuries included several facial fractures and a deep laceration near his right eye.
The offenders are believed to have fled in a maroon Ford sedan. No motive for the attack has been established, and police would like to speak to anyone who may be able to assist in the investigation.
