Voluntary work earns acclaim

MELTON City Council will mark National Volunteer Week, to be held between 13 and 19 May, with a celebration event featuring inspirational guest speaker Walter Mikac.
Mayor Kathy Majdlik, said the event is an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions and achievements council volunteers make throughout the year.
“Our volunteers do a wonderful job and we are extremely grateful for the time they give to help others,” Cr Majdlik said.
“There are many opportunities to volunteer your time and skills in the City of Melton.
“It is a great way to make new friends, contribute to the community, share your knowledge and practice your skills.”
The council has over 140 registered volunteers who provide direct service delivery to the community.
The invite-only volunteer celebration event will be held on Wednesday 15 May at WestWaters Entertainment Complex.
Author and speaker, Walter Mikac, will give a presentation on the invaluable contribution volunteers make to the community.
