Let there be lights

MELTON City Council welcomed a recent funding announcement by the State Government which will see $40,000 pumped into a local sporting facility.
The funding will go towards installing lights at MacPherson Park in Melton.
Melton mayor Kathy Majdlik said the council was committed to delivering quality infrastructure and services for residents.
“Council is delighted with the announcement which will enable the expansion of sporting opportunities in our municipality,” Cr Majdlik said.
“This funding will facilitate the installation of lighting at the netball court at MacPherson Park, complementing existing community infrastructure and providing better access at both a senior and junior level.”
Cr Majdlik said the installation of new lights would create more opportunities for residents and schools to participate in active pursuits and develop their skill levels, in a safe and accessible environment.
So far this financial year, the council had invested $130,000 for the construction of a new netball court at MacPherson Park.
It is expected that the lights will be installed over the next few months.
