IT IS a program enjoyed by 1.5 million children across 66 countries around the world, and it can be found in the heart of Caroline Springs.
Kindermusik is a music and movement program for newborn babies up to seven year olds and their families.
Director of Piano and Organ and Kindermusik educator, Dorothy Di Lullo, said children were learning to love and appreciate music through the program.
“Kids are learning and expressing themselves through music while having fun,” Ms Di Lullo said.
Ms Di Lullo said children were also developing skills to make them better learners.
“The most development in a child’s brain occurs in the first year of a child’s life, and up to about the age of five, this is the best time to tap into your child’s brain,” Ms Di Lullo said.
“Babies and children are so responsive to music,” she said.
“Parents can see the development from one class to another and the amount of information children absorb at that age is just phenomenal.”
Ms Di Lullo said the program was a way to help children not only musically, but also in other aspects of their cognitive, physical, social, emotional and language development.
“With the pre-schoolers, we look at patterns, so that’s important for reading maps,” Ms Di Lullo said.
“And when we are moving to a beat, like stomping our feet, its developing steady beat in our lower body which is important for learning to kick a ball, run and walk,” she said.
“Education ends up being second because it’s so fun in the class, parents and children don’t even realise they are learning.”
“My mission is to bring the true joy of music to as many young children and their families within the community as possible.”
