A HILLSIDE man has had his father’s car impounded for 30 days after going 100km/h over the limit.
The driver in his twenties had his vehicle impounded after he sped past an unmarked police car on the Melton Highway last Wednesday night.
Brimbank Highway Patrol members clocked the HSV Maloo utility travelling at 180km/h in an 80km/h zone at around 10.30pm. It is believed the man had been racing along the Melton Highway in his dad’s car when he was intercepted near Calder Park Drive.
The driver had his vehicle immediately impounded for 30 days under the hoon legislation.
He is expected to be charged on summons with street racing, dangerous speeding and other traffic-related offences.
