THE Melton Library and Learning Hub received another accolade last week after winning the Australian Timber Design Award for Sustainability.
The award is judged on the entry that makes the best use of sustainable design principles. This is the second sustainability award earned by the Melton Library and Learning Hub, which recently also took out the Procurement Australia award for Sustainable Procurement.
City of Melton acting mayor Bob Turner said the award was a great achievement.
“This award acknowledges the thought and innovation that went into the design and build of this outstanding community facility,” Cr Turner said.
“We hope that the library and learning hub continues to inspire other organisations to incorporate sustainable and efficient design principles when undertaking similar infrastructure projects.”
The Australian Timber Design Awards are a national competition to promote and encourage outstanding timber design in the built environment professions.
The Melton Library and Learning Hub is the first completed building in Australia to achieve a Five Star Green Star – Public Building Design PILOT rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
