Police kept busy

MELTON police have made a number of significant arrests in the last week including that of a 24-year-old Carlton woman who was arrested and charged with a total of seven burglaries committed in the municipality. She was also charged with similar offences committed in other parts of Melbourne and is currently remanded in custody.
On the same day police discovered a cannabis crop growing in a residence in Centenary Avenue, Melton. A 37-year-old female from St Albans and a 49-year-old male from Deer Park have been charged with cultivating a narcotic plant. Both have been bailed to appear in court at a later date.
On 1 October, police arrested a 29 year old Melton man in relation to an aggravated burglary that occurred in Pennyroyal Crescent, Kurunjang on 8 July this year. The same male and a 24-year -old Bacchus Marsh woman and  a 33-year-old Hoppers Crossing man who were also arrested on 1 October were charged with conspiracy to commit a further aggravated burglary. The woman was also charged with committing residential burglaries in the Melton area.
And a 52-year-old woman was the victim of a callous thief last week who stole her bag as she got out of her car. The theft occurred on 30 September in the car park of Safeway at Woodgrove Shopping Centre. The victim had just placed her bag over her shoulder as she got out of her vehicle. The bag was snatched by a single offender described as male, about 175cm, medium build, wearing a dark coloured hoodie with baseball cap underneath and track pants. The victim was not injured during this incident.
