Lions to hold convention

THE Lions Club of Melton will host the annual district convention this weekend and chairman Geoff Stubbs said the event promised to be a fruitful one.
Mr Stubbs said the weekend-long convention would begin with a parade of the flags on Friday night at the Melton Community Hall and members of the public were welcome to attend.
He said guest speaker Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Andrew Crisp was sure to provide some stimulating points of interest for the public and Lions Club members.
Mr Stubbs, who has been a member of the Melton Lions Club for 44 years, said the weekend would include an array of business sessions that would help improve the work of clubs across the district and would also give members a chance to network and improve present relationships.
“The weekends are usually very fruitful … we make a lot of business decisions and elections are held,” he told Star.
“It’s an important weekend.”
This is the third time Melton has hosted the convention.
The parade of flags will take place this Friday evening, 11 October, from 7.30pm at the Melton Community Hall.
