MELTON hairdresser Hayleigh McKnight is painting the town pink – or at least her salon.
After receiving the devastating news that at least nine of her clients have been diagnosed with breast cancer this year, the owner of H’s Place Hair Studio decided to do her bit in the fight against breast and gynaecological cancers and will raise much-needed funds for the cause.
With a salon adorned in pink, a raffle with unbelievable prizes and the chance to dye your hair pink, Hayleigh is going all out to reach her target of $3000.
“In the last few months, a lot of our clients have been diagnosed with breast cancer,” she told Star.
“We want to give back to them and show them that we’re supporting them.”
And she is doing just that with the help of many local businesses, including Shoppers Bonanza who covered the salon with pink decorations.
Visitors to the salon can also purchase raffle tickets to go into the draw to win hundreds of dollars worth of prizes, including a hair and beauty package and an extreme exposure photography voucher.
Hayleigh said a large number of items would be discounted throughout the month and all proceeds from hair extensions, nail art and dying hair pink would go towards the Cancer Council.
The salon will also be hosting a Girl’s Night In.
“There’s a positive feeling around the salon … we even had an 80-year-old client come in and get her hair dyed pink.
“There’s been a fantastic response from clients of all ages, everyone is getting involved.”
Hayleigh said she had been astounded by the community’s willingness to give – from her own staff, to clients and local businesses.
