Share the ride

AN online community carpooling service was welcomed by Eynesbury residents last weekend.
The Eynesbury Drive Share project is a partnership between Melton City Council and the Eynesbury Community Association.
The online carpooling service is free and allows two or more people to make arrangements to travel together in a single car.
City of Melton mayor Kathy Majdlik said the project was specifically targeted to the needs of the Eynesbury residents because of the limited transport options available to them.
“The council is committed to alleviating transport disadvantage for local residents with poor connection to other areas through public transport and carpooling options,” Cr Majdlik said.
“I encourage Eynesbury residents to sign up to this new project. Carpooling has many benefits, it can save you time, money, hassles in finding car parks and reduces the impact you have on the environment.”
Members can register their contact details and journey requirements on the online system and the system will automatically put passengers and drivers with matching requirements in contact with each other to discuss a possible journey sharing arrangement.
Once registered, members can also download the free Eynesbury carpool app via the App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android users.
