TOOLERN Vale Primary School was targeted by burglars for the third time in as many weeks last week.
The attempted burglary took place between 5pm on Saturday 26 October and 1pm Monday 28 October.
However, the thieves were unsuccessful in their latest attempt to heist computers as the school recently adopted measures to secure valuable items.
On 23 October police executed a drug search warrant in Lachlan Rd, Melton South.
Detective Senior Sergeant Jenks said a quantity of cannabis was seized and a 37-year-old female was charged with possessing a drug of dependence and bailed to appear at court at a later date.
Det Sen Sgt Jenks said during the same warrant a 41-year-old Bacchus Marsh man was charged with possessing a drug of dependence and a Melton man, 22, was arrested on warrants of apprehension and charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon.
Meanwhile, a 42-year-old Melton man was viciously attacked on Friday 25 October while walking along Palmerston St on his way home from a local hotel.
The victim was struck with a garden stake by an unknown male offender and received serious head and facial injuries which required hospital care.
Det Sen Sgt Jenks said the man has since been discharged from hospital and the matter is being investigated by Melton CIU.
“A motive for the attack has not been established and police would like to speak with anyone who may have information in relation to this incident,” he said.
And two water meters were stolen from separate locations in Hillside between 20 to 25 October.
“These types of thefts continue to be a problem despite police efforts to discourage metal dealers from purchasing this type of equipment.”
