CONSTRUCTION has begun on a landmark new education, training and economic development facility that will support and encourage new enterprises and ongoing business growth in the City of Melton.
The Western Business Accelerator and Centre for Excellence (BACE) will create an environment where emerging businesses can have access to information, facilities and support that will help them grow their business.
City of Melton mayor Bob Turner launched construction by turning the first sod of soil on the project.
Cr Turner said the opportunities created by Western BACE would support business growth and further employment options for local residents.
“The Western Business Accelerator and Centre for Excellence represents a collaborative, multi-million dollar investment in the future of Melbourne’s West,” he said.
“Council is committed to encouraging business growth and enterprise start-ups throughout our municipality, and we want to ensure our residents have access to the best training and education to help them in their careers.
“The City of Melton has a large number of home-based and micro businesses and the
centre will provide them with the opportunity to expand and by supporting them, we are supporting local jobs growth.”
It is hoped the Western BACE will also help boost liveability within the area by ensuring population growth is matched by job opportunities.
