Recognising spirit of ANZACs

WESTERN metropolitan region MP Andrew Elsbury has urged Year 9 and 10 students in the West to apply for the 2013-14 Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize competition.
Twelve young winners will be given the opportunity to take part in an all-expense paid study tour to follow in the footsteps of the ANZACs in Gallipoli and the Western Front.
“This is an incredible opportunity for local students to experience first-hand the places and events that have shaped our country’s history” Mr Elsbury said.
Students entering the competition must address the following questions: ‘To what extent is the ANZAC spirit relevant to life in Australia today?’ and ‘What can it teach us about the Australia we want for the future?’
“I encourage Year 9 and 10 students in our community to take inspiration from some of the previous winning submissions, which are available on the Spirit of ANZAC tour blog at spiritofanzactour2012.blogspot.com.au” Mr Elsbury said.
Students must submit their entries by Friday 18 October this year with research essays, poems, stories, artworks, musical compositions or audio, video or web-based presentations accepted.
