DOES your dog have what it takes to become Yarraville’s next top model?
The Yarraville Village Animal Hospital is on the prowl for fashionable pooches across the West to strut their stuff at the annual Pet Fashion Parade as part of next month’s Yarraville Arts Festival.
Veterinarian Dr Rhonda Dunmill has been running the event for the past 12 years since she started up the clinic, and said pet owners really got into the spirit of the parade.
Previous years have seen dogs embrace their inner movie stars and emulate famous roles, such as Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.
Robot and superhero costumes are also a popular choice.
Some owners are also keen to get in on the fun and dress up to complement their dogs.
“What people really love is the opportunity to get their pet into costume,” Dr Dunmill said. “The craziest and most imaginatively dressed animals are destined to steal the limelight.
“The owner of last year’s winner has actually won a couple of years in a row, and she’s already planning this year’s outfit – she’s a hard one to beat.”
Popular comedian and media personality Dave O’Neil will return to the West to host the event alongside special guest judges Norbit Neugebauer, Jayson Agnir and Jessica Huggins.
The event will run on 11 February at 12.30pm.
Dogs and their owners can pre-register or show up on the day. Call 9689 8100 or email rhondadunmill@optusnet.com.au for more information.
