A NEW pirate adventure is coming to Sunshine this Christmas.
High Seas is the upcoming Christmas pantomime for the Sunshine Community Theatre, and was written by long-time SCT member Stephen Andrews and directed by Rachael Holt.
Ms Holt, who is calling on Brimbank youngsters to audition for the show, said the play was specifically written to be performed by both children and adults, but aimed to give youth in the area an opportunity to perform in live theatre production.
Described as a “rollicking” high seas adventure, the seasoned director said the story followed a group of bold explorers searching for hidden treasure, while also trying to avoid scary pirates.
The show will be performed over one weekend in December and will have a Christmas theme.
“Kids gain a sense of friendship and confidence,” Ms Holt said.
“They are so proud of themselves after they perform.
“It’s an awesome experience.”
The experienced theatrical director is onto her third production for the year, having just come off successful back-to-back seasons at Sunshine and Essendon Theatre Company.
“Rehearsals will be fun-filled, action packed, and the play accepts different people in many different roles.”
Auditions for the show will take place this Sunday 9 October, from 2pm, at Dempster Park Hall, North Sunshine.
