MELTON Shire residents can keep their children entertained next week as the community celebrates Children’s Week.
Children’s Week will be celebrated nationally from 22–30 October and coincides with Universal Children’s Day on Wednesday 26 October.
To mark the special week, Melton Shire Council has organised free
community events to celebrate the important role children play within families, their communities and within society.
Mayor Justin Mammarella encouraged all families to take part in the free activities and spend time with their family.
“It is a time to recognise and celebrate the importance of children in our community,” Cr Mammarella said.
Families are invited to take part in the “Let’s Move” Family Day at Melton Community Hall on Wednesday 26 October from 12–2pm.
The event will include free activities for families and children aged up to six years old including face painting, fun and games, a sausage sizzle, African drumming and arts and crafts.
Other events happening across the shire include fairies and arts and crafts activities. For more information residents can contact on 9747 7200.
