MELBOURNE’S overcrowded and unreliable train network has been given a new timetable in an attempt to improve performance.
The timetable will provide 285 new services a week, including 45 during busy peak times.
Brimbank residents will benefit from three new peak services each weekday to the Sydenham line.
Metro CEO Andrew Lezala said the new timetable was all about making room for more people to use trains.
“More trains means more capacity, and as the rollout of the new trains continues, we’ll keep putting those trains where they’re needed most,” he said.
The new timetable will be introduced 10 October and follows timetable improvements made in June.
“We’ve focused these changes on where they’re most needed, to help us to transport more people, more often, with fewer cancellations and less delays,” Mr Lezala said.
