KEILOR Downs Police are appealing for public assistance to identify two men who used stolen credit cards to chalk up bills of more than $10,000 during an illegal shopping spree.
Detectives from the Keilor Downs Criminal Investigation Unit have already arrested two people but have yet to identify another duo, captured using the cards on CCTV footage.
Detective Leading Senior Constable Mark Crevatin said the cards were stolen when a man lost his wallet in Sydenham in July.
They were used to commit more than 40 thefts in shops in the North and Western suburbs between 2-7 July, including purchases in Burnside Heights, Sunshine, Taylors Lakes, Braybrook and Maribyrnong.
Thefts were also committed in South Morang and Epping.
Det Leading Sen Const Crevatin said the victim became aware of the thefts after his bank called, after noticing an unusual pattern of transactions.
Police have charged two people with the initial theft, including a 22-year-old Hillside man and a 20-year-old Hillside man.
Detectives have released CCTV images of another two men who are alleged to have used the credit cards during a spree in Epping and South Morang on 5 July.
The first suspect is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s and is of thin build.
He was wearing a white long-sleeved top, a black T-shirt with a logo on the front, black Adidas tracksuit pants with white stripes down the side and white runners.
Police also wish to speak to a second suspect, also aged in his late teens or early twenties and with a chubby build and rat’s tail haircut.
He was wearing a black top, blue jeans and a red baseball cap with the number 55 printed on the front.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Keilor Downs Police on 9365 3333.
