THIS is officially the football silly season and this year in the West it is the best yet. Last week rumours spread of three former AFL players signed up for the WRFL. SEN’s Tony Schibeci went with the Big Footy rumours of Barry Hall to Deer Park and Cam Mooney to Albion. The other doing the rounds is Michael Gardiner to either Hoppers Crossing or Port Colts. It will be interesting to see if there is any truth to the rumours. Personally I think one of the three is a possibility and that is all. I am told Barry is going to take up boxing once he has finished his book tour and his wedding and honeymoon. I am sure Cam Mooney will stay in footy but I suspect it will be in the Geelong area. Let me know if you hear anything on the very well oiled footy grapevine. Still a few coaching jobs in the local competitions to be filled.
I WOULD like to hear the news from all our local cricket clubs. The news has been deafening for the start of this season. The local footy clubs always keep in touch but the cricketers aren’t so active. I know the weather has played havoc with the schedule as it usually does at the start of the season but come on boys let me and the readers know who is going well and who isn’t.
