Harvester saddles up for big move

This makes two wins for the St Albans resident who also had a great input into the naming of the school.
Describing it as a “terrific” victory for the school, Mr Rigg said the machine was going to be donated by Medway in Albion. And it was particularly significant as it was made in Sunshine.
Mr Rigg, who has been campaigning for years for the machine to be restored, said at least now it would be repaired and would actually benefit school children in the area, rather than rust away in a factory yard.
“It’s a win for the school. Now the students can learn about our history.”
The Sunshine Library is the home to another harvester machine.
Designed by HV McKay, who many see as the founding father of Sunshine, the harvester machine was created in 1884-85, and was not only able to strip wheat, but also separated the grain from the chaff.
It’s believed McKay designed the harvester because he hated the laborious process of separating grain from chaff and wanted to make farm work easier for his employees.
