Man arrested after fire death

POLICE have identified a man who died in a fire in Brooklyn last weekend.
Firefighters discovered the body of a 34-year-old Brooklyn man after extinguishing a fire around 9pm in Bunting Rd at on Sunday 30 October.
The name of the man had not been released when Star went to print.
A 43-year-old Rockbank man has been arrested regarding the incident and will face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court next year on one count of murder.
Police arrested Mark Budimir at about 8.20pm last Monday in Broken Hill.
Mr Budimir was declared a “person of interest” after investigators found his car at the site of the fire.
Police also believe Mr Budimir was the driver of a car involved in a police pursuit the morning after the fire.
Police gave up the pursuit when it became unsafe.
Mr Budimir has not applied for bail and will appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court in March.
