GIRLS in Caroline Springs and Hillside are being encouraged to kick off their dancing shoes and grab a soccer ball as the winter season approaches.
Springs Hills FC is calling on juniors to sign up, with the club expecting nearly 400 children to kick the round ball around this season.
Club secretary Anil Kattula said the juniors-only club, which was established by a group of locals three years ago, recently relocated to a new facility at Springside Recreation Reserve in Caroline Springs. And construction is about to start on a brand-new Melton Shire Council-funded pavilion, offering the club a “top class” facility by the end of the year.
Mr Kattula said the club was keen to get girls playing soccer, as well as children with a disability.
“No experience is necessary. 80 per cent of our members have never played soccer before they join the club. It is amazing to see the progress they make as they season progresses,” he said.
The club is currently accepting expressions of interest for the upcoming season. Further information on the club can be found, and expressions of interest lodged online, at the clubs website www.springhillsfc.asn.au
