Brimbank idols on the way

EMILY-JANE amazed her mother the first time she sang to her and this weekend the Deer Park teenager hopes to wow judges at the Brimbank Idol competition.
The Year 11 student has been singing for five years and wants to crack the market with her big voice, but she knows it will be tough.
And she will be among a host of other teenagers competing to make it in the music industry this Saturday.
Emily-Jane, a student at Rosehill Secondary College in Niddrie, said she enjoyed singing big ballads and was inspired by female artists like Pink, Faith Hill and Martina McBride.
The talented musician is in the midst of writing her own song –a tribute to her late grandfather. And she hopes the Idol competition is a stepping stone to forging a career which could see her perform in musicals and on stage.
“I think the competition is a great idea,” she said.
“It’s lets people who are shy and quiet get out there and do what they like,” she said.
The Brimbank Idol final will be part of this weekend’s Brimbank Festival celebrations and the winning singer will perform in front of a packed audience.
