PAST pupils from Sunshine Secondary College are being called to donate memorabilia for an upcoming reminiscence afternoon.
Former student and member of the Sunshine and District Historical Society John Willaton said the school, previously known as Sunshine Technical College, had a rich history which needed to be noted before it was too late.
“It’s the oldest secondary school in Sunshine and it means a lot to a lot of people,” he said.
“It has a very long and rich history and every year everyone is ageing and it is important the history is recorded and celebrated.
“We need to get it down now while people can remember.”
Mr Willaton said the school, established in 1913, was built on land donated by Sunshine’s founding father HV McKay, and was attended by students from as far as Sunbury and Horsham.
The reminiscence afternoon will be held on Sunday 22 May at the college with afternoon tea provided. Anyone interested in attending should contact John Willaton on 9744 7435 or Don Webster on 8361 0219.
