ALBION moved into second spot on the Division One ladder after a 19-point win against Altona in their important Western Regional Football League (WRFL) match on Saturday.
The reigning premier benefited from full-forward Shaydon Bloomfield’s five-goal haul in the 14.10 (94) to 11.9 (75) victory.
Albion kicked eight goals to three in the second half to move above St Albans on the ladder ahead of their clash this weekend.
Marcus Smith and Blake Richards were among the best for the winning side, while strong performances from Lee Spiteri and Chris Gallagher were not enough for Altona.
A bag of 11 goals from Cory Connor inspired Sunshine to its first win of the season as it thrashed Glen Orden by 178 points.
Connor was joined in the goal fest by former Western Bulldog Patrick Wiggins, who kicked six, and Kieran Murphy (four) in the 31.23 (209) to 5.1 (31) thumping.
The winless Glen Orden was never in the game, down by 92 points at half-time. Elsewhere, Port Melbourne Colts produced a stunning first half in their 80-point demolition of North Footscray. The Colts kicked 18 first-half goals in the 24.9 (153) to 10.13 (73) win.
Michael Bracken kicked five in a best-on-ground performance, while Patrick Jackson and Sean Curtis were also outstanding for the Devils.
In other results, Hoppers Crossing claimed its third win of the season against Sunshine Heights.
In an even contest, the Warriors kicked away with a five-goals-to-two last term to win by 40 points, 18.15(123) to 12.11(83).
