BRIMBANK residents will be treated to a performance of the classic witty comedy The Importance of Being Earnest later this year.
Director Lee Cook is calling on performers from across the West to attend auditions next week.
This is the first time Mr Cook will be directing solo and said he was excited about the prospect of bringing Oscar Wilde’s classic tale to life.
A member of Sunshine Community Theatre, the Melton resident said the company was entering an exciting era and he looked forward to working with a cast that was committed to following his vision for the play.
“The real challenge of directing is being dependent on the cast,” Mr Cook said.
A trained performer, Mr Cook said working in theatre was something he always wanted to do.
“When I was a kid, it was the one thing I knew I always wanted to do and it just carried on from there.
“I couldn’t stop doing it even if I wanted to. It’s in the blood.”
Mr Cook called on performers to audition this Sunday, June 5 from 1pm at Dempster Park Hall, 82 Phoenix St, North Sunshine.
