Hunting for gold

CAMERON Fraser has set his sights on Olympic gold. The St Albans athlete will be flying to Athens this month to compete in the Special Olympics World Games. The 21-year-old has an intellectual disability and will compete in the half-marathon. Mr Fraser is one of only 27 Victorian athletes chosen to compete in the event. Premier Ted Baillieu officially farewelled the sports men and women during a special celebration last week. Mr Baillieu said all Australians would be cheering the athletes on. “All Victorians are proud to count you among our sporting greats and their cheers will support you as you represent our state and nation in Athens,” he said. “Our Victorian team shows what is possible when all Victorians are given the same opportunities to go for their dreams.” The Special Olympics World Summer Games are held every four years. This year’s competition will be held from 25 June to 4 July, with around 7500 athletes representing 185 countries competing. 66052 Picture: SUPPLIEDCAMERON Fraser has set his sights on Olympic gold.
